Odds Review #2: Week Ending 12/01
The main development over the past week has been Greece's lineup and song reveal where an Evangelia vs Klavdia h2h looks the only realistic outcome. Both entries would seem to have lower top 10 potential but could excite or fall away depending on the live performance: which is an early trend of the year with options in both Latvia and Spain meeting some of that criteria too. Malta meanwhile are likely best served (pun intended) by hoping Miriana Contest can perform live and/or get some viral attention. None of these have really caught the markets eye but could at some point (rightly or wrongly).
Croatia won't be coming close to matching last year's levels after releasing their entries for Dora with 'Monopol' getting the most early attention from the fandom though potentially up against it to win there. Ukraine's vidbir wildcard options have also been debuted and are pretty atrocious.
Finland are in the process of trickling their UMK options out with fan favourite Erika Vikman's 'Ich Komme' being held till last. After being edged into second back in 2020 we'll see what she has left in the tank for this second round. The first three entries have presented nothing of relevancy to the outright market.
The next week begins with a heap of national final participant drops from Moldova, Poland, Norway and Iceland with already a pretty good idea on the first two whilst KEiiNO are once again in the rumour mill for MGP. Songvakepnin will be ditching the superfinal format for this year which infamously led to Bashar Murad’s demise last year… Lithuania’s marathon national final will be continuing next saturday whilst the hyped Belgium hold their first (and less anticipated) showcase.
