Estonia 2022: Stefan with ‘Hope’

Eesti Laul has concluded with the big favourite mopping up. Stefan will now take ‘Hope’ to Turin.

Steffen sells this well, and being a good looking chap doesn't hurt. You do get the sense that he actually cares about this rather it being a big gimmick for him. The cowboys do lessen that somewhat but also help with the storytelling and their incorporation should be worked on rather than completely binned. With or without them however this is an engaging three minutes and does keep my attention.

There’s enough here for juries to respect and I can see this picking up televotes from a casual audience. His Eesti laul tv performance was very impressive too considering he was up against several previous winners here.

Estonia are in the second half of semi 2 which is as good a place as you can hope for. I’d be expecting this to make the final but there it might get lost a little unless the staging is upgraded from ‘good’ to stand out, something Estonia don’t often manage.
