Finland 2022: The Rasmus with ‘Jezebel’

Finland just can't turn up the chance to send a rock song, this time from The Rasmus:

Beyond the live vocal, what I feel holds this back most is the lack of pace. I'm not interested in particular in the bpm but the general flow and feel of the track. Successful Eurovision rock entries are usually a real burst of energy whereas this very quickly finds its gear and stays there. It's still a good example and will stand out in the field but name recognition has gone a long way to get this through to be brutally honest. On that topic, I don't think this being The Rasmus will have much effect when it comes to May.

Staging needs to be redone here with that cartoon backdrop greatly expanded on or binned- Blind Channel were more ready to go last time around but I trust them to get that right- neither Finland or the Rasmus have a shortage of experience staging rock.

Blind Channel admittedly exceeded expectations last year but this already feels weaker (although without a Maneskin in the field). I'll double down and say this gets that low left hand side finish and not much more.

Personal Rating: 3/10.

Competitive Rating: 6/10.

Early Prediction: Semi 2 5th-9th, Final 11th-15th
