Odds Review: Week Ending 22/01

A short and sweet edition this week with most countries as you were pretty much, save for some Sunday night button clicking in the last couple of hours.

Finland headline the odds moves being backed down to the 20s region with 'Cha Cha Cha' going down well domestically and in the fan community. I'll probably do a UMK preview but if not at 1.2 to win that you'll likely end up with my thoughts in Finland's song review anyway. For now I'll just say it's very optimistic to plan for Helsinki next year.

Nothing of winner market interest was to be seen in either of last night's national final heats in Norway and Lithuania (better to come next week in both) nor in the songs released in Portugal and Denmark. The Festival de Cancao winner often requires a second look when the time comes, whatever Dansk Melodi Grand Prix decide on really doesn’t.

The 20s is proving to be a very busy section of the odds featuring no less than 7 countries whilst at the top of the market Ukraine has lost yet more ground, proving even they aren't exempt from the early favourite drift we often see. They will be hoping the early wrong choices theme of the year (that they themselves started) continues into February.

Next week sees German names and Icelandic songs released as the unannounced become fewer and fewer. We also get our 4th confirmed entry of the year in the shape of the Czech Republic.
