Odds Review: Week Ending 16/03

Song reveal season is officially over as the last few stragglers have posted their entries. Switzerland got the week started with ‘Voyage’, a smooth French language home entry that could prove a nice moment or get completely overshadowed. The market has never been keen on the double this year and they’ve further drifted to 400+. Hype from the usual places and the Cyprus’s Eurovision answer to the avengers with their hodge podge dream team of familiar names had kept Theo Evan somewhat relevant in the odds until their song release on Tuesday. Georgia have been silent all year until a 45 minute flurry of activity on Friday where Mariam Shengelia was announced followed by her entry ‘Freedom’. Instant 100+ justified.

France rounded of the season in epic fashion as previously announced although ‘Maman’ has seen them lose ground in the odds overall. Stabilised just behind the Netherlands in 5th provisionally.

Elsewhere it’s been music video and ‘revamp’ central although there’s nothing massive to note here. Estonia’s Tommy Cash has brought his trademark zany style and carried over many of the live performance themes suggesting that will be developed on rather than completely revamped and Malta are now officially ‘Serving’ with their Diva Down tombstone a funny touch. Finally, Albania have been on a stealth climb up the odds as they remain the favourite of many and with a strong niche with the full 37.

So that’s it for now. I still have two reviews to get through which will be coming in the next few days and then a bit of a wait begins for some of the pre contest markers to start coming in and shaking things up. For now, Sweden make it yet another week at number 1 in the odds so that’s a clean sweep of these weekly roundups. Unless we get some big shake ups, I’ll probably skip this series next Sunday and depending on my interest and time might post a few other things instead.
