Odds Review- Week Ending 28/03

With all songs selected we’re into the lull in the season, particularly this year where live performances are thin on the ground and we’ve had two years to get to grips with the talents of most of the contenders. Nevertheless, there have still been a few moves.

The performance of Switzerland’s ‘Tout L’universe’ on Spanish TV had been out for nearly an hour when I published last week’s review and with no move in sight I figured Gjon’s somewhat suspect live performances (known from last year) had been accounted for. But no, Switzerland soon moved out with France threatening to jump back ahead briefly.

Flo Rida appears ‘interested’ in heading to Rotterdam with the news alone causing San Marino to move back into the low 30s. Should they manage to get him there, expect another rush on the price and of course a drift on the opposite news.

Iceland are back in the mid teens, likely in anticipation of that music video coming tomorrow. It might be one of those where anticipation of the odds move and a trade has again killed any value on Dadi.

North Macedonia have confirmed Vasil will be representing them but one act that won’t make it to Rotterdam are Galasy ZMesta as Belarus were officially disqualified. It’s a shockingly bad bit of news for Ukraine and more so Russia who have lost a pretty solid 24 points in the hunt for qualification. Ukraine are going to have to bring that madcap staging and Russia hope that their feminist message can drag in some jury and western support. Both are on very shaky ground.

Israel’s revamp does little to nothing to enhance their hopes of qualifying from that same semi and they remain the weakest package in that second half.

Malta have jumped into their first consistent lead in the odds over the last week, yet have lengthened themselves slightly and are tickling 6s again as the year continues to be wide open.
