Odds Review- Week Ending 31/01

There’s nowhere else to start than with France whose selection of ‘Voila’ has sent them just behind towards the top of the outright, with France going as low as 8s during Cest Vous Qui Decidez before moving back out of single figures and gradually easing back throughout today. You can read my review for my full thoughts, but in brief current odds look very optimistic.

Israel had the choice of deciding whether they want to go into the contest at 100+ or 500+. They chose the latter, ‘Set Me Free’ is not a competitive entry.

Much like Iceland last week, Bulgaria saw a bit of a sudden move for no apparent reason with a not insignificant amount being snapped up. The market soon corrected but Bulgaria are always one to look out for in terms of unexpected price moves and it’s worth keeping a close eye on them. They will be choosing their song with fan feedback in the next month.

Moldova have officially confirmed what was already known in the return of Natalia Gordienko and the ‘Dream Team’. Something along the lines of Maruv's ‘Siren Song’ has been promised and they may be just creditable enough to pull that off, though the self hype might be a bit much.

The UK’s gradual drift continues and they are edging close to triple figures now from an opening price of 40s. Market opinion is that the BBC have simply forgotten about the contest rather than silently plotting a masterpiece but it’s hard to see the price getting much higher.

Italy are a few ticks higher with continued uncertainty and political fighting over San Remo and now sit 7th favourite, a low placing considering their recent record. Armenia, also have a bit of caution built into their price until any further confirmation on their plans. Still no word either from Russia and even the rumour mill is quiet for once. My guess is them and Little Big are waiting on what scenario we will have before deciding.
