Azerbaijan 2023: TuralTuranX with ‘Tell Me More’

Azerbaijan are always one of the last to join the party and we now have their entry from TuralTuranX.

Time was when Azerbaijan in triple figures pre song would have been absurd but I think most of us saw this non-event of a song coming. In general, Azerbaijan’s ambitions have directly declined over the years with a bit of a resurgence with Chingiz and Efendi (Cleopatra, not Mata Hari). The ‘off’ years have always had the goal of making the final at a minimum however and delivering something respectable, whereas this really does feel like something thrown together with zero effort. A withdrawal next year wouldn't surprise.

Anyway this is not an entry that will ever stand out to televoters, nor one with room for much live elevation. It's the only weak entry in the second half of semi 1 and Azerbaijan have to fight hard (and sometimes more than that) for every televote received as recent results have shown.

Given the number of tv heavyweights in their semi and no base vote I find it more likely they receive 0 points than qualify and this becomes the most certain NQ of the year. I'm sure the delegation will be saddened and shocked to hear that.
