Germany 2023: Lord of The Lost with ‘Blood and Glitter’

Annual strugglers Germany are mixing it up this year with Unser Lied Fur Liverpool winners Lord of The Lost:

I’ve not really seen or searched out much discussion on this one but I’d guess I'm going to fall on the harsher end.

This is a complete pastiche of a song and would be more fitting playing in a basement to a crowd of 50. I get how it won in the national final because it “stood out” but that advantage is going to disappear with the big step up in class at Eurovision.

The strongest element of this is the memorable hook, I do find for better or worse this has stuck in my head better than most of the entries this year.

This is a single figure jury song in my book with this a poor example of the genre. The televote is a little harder to predict but there’s so many potential alternatives for voters that it doesn't even stand out that much. There's plenty of rock and plenty of alternative songs this year-all of which are better at at least one aspect.

You do generally see at least one of the big 5 right down there and I'm expecting another tough year for Germany.
