Cyprus 2023: Andrew Lambrou with ‘Break a Broken Heart’

We finally have the full song to go with one of the first announced singers of the year:

Good old Landrew Ambrou has brought the most middle of the road entry of the year (potentially to be surpassed by neighbours Greece) and there's not much to talk about. The hook is fine, the production strong, he's alright live erm…

Competitively it's the sort of song that would be looking to qualify from last night's Melfest semi final and will struggle from the no-one’s favourite issue this style of song always does. You have to be exceptional to excell with this type of entry whereas this is just fine to good.

It's a pretty favourable semi for Cyprus in being both weak and having that guaranteed 12 points from Greece and something sizeable from Australia too. In such a middling semi where casual votes are going to be spread evenly, these advantages are absolutely crucial and put Cyprus (and other beneficiaries) in strong positions.

With this in mind I'm expecting this in the final where it will be completely blanked by the majority of countries and pick up a middling jury score.

Personal Rating: 5/10

Competitve Rating: 5/10

Early Prediction: Semi Final 2 6th-9th, 18th-22nd in the final.
