Germany 2022: Malik Harris with ‘Rockstars’

After beating out favourite Felicia Lu, Malik Harris will represent the struggling big 5 nation in Turin:

Importantly for this kind of midtempo, non descript entry (despite the angsty Rap feel this is going for) the hook is strong and that's Germany’s best hope to avoid getting completely forgotten here. It raises it ever so slightly out of the completely hopeless pile to the mostly hopeless one.

Staging will need to improve significantly from last night with Malik not connecting enough. I'd drop the instruments- keep the guitar for the intro if you absolutely have to- and let him work on emoting to the camera more as there are some decent lyrics to work with.

Whatever concept they bring this will be used as filler which is an unavoidable issue. With a 1st half draw this would be in serious trouble of another embarrassing t.v score. I expect juries to enjoy this enough, believing its more contemporary than it is and a steady collection of points there may ensure an improvement on German’s dismal run. I'm not tipping it for last yet, but even in an absolute best case scenario world this is right hand side stuff.
