Ireland 2022: Brooke with ‘That's Rich’.
I guess pain can be addictive as it was only the international jury saving Ireland from complete embarrassment with Miles Graham. Instead, Brooke will (probably) be heading to Turin with ‘That's Rich’.
Fair play to Brooke for surviving the Late Late show farce-that's a tough environment to try to sell this and instead it was the rest of the field throwing out the dodgy jury notes. In isolation, this was a poor performance, but working with waht rte supplied Brooke made the best of it.
How far this can improve is the question. We know the audition footage is irrelevant in Moldova for example, but Ireland's staging successes are few and far between and this does need elevating. Can't help but fear they're just going to send the same two dances to flank her on an empty stage (perhaps save for a silly prop, maybe a giant dollar sign?). The danger is this shows up looking completely amateurish.
The song itself already has a bit of that feel to it, I like it and it is an “earworm” ;) but that mainly comes through the repetition rather than any clever songwriting, something jurors should pick up on.
The semi final is a kind one for Ireland with the anglophone trio of Australia, The UK and Malta likely to be kind + a couple of lovers of this type of pop. It's also looking incredibly weak and Brooke will be in the second half. I expect this to be borderline throughout the season and will struggle in the final if it does get through.

Early Prediction: Semi 2 9th-13th, 21st-25th if in final.
