Serbia 2022: Konstrakta with ‘In Corpore Sano’

Given the general option was between a Balkan Ballad or a Balkan Banger, Konstrakta's victory probably comes as the biggest surprise of the National Final season:

This certainly is different to the field and if its a ‘wtf?’ response you're after, here's the one. This kind of reminds me of previous entries easily perceived as novelty that often have a ‘deeper meaning’ parts of the fandom love to jump on a high horse about. For me this is an interesting experiment in how to make 3 minutes feel like an eternity, a little like neighbours Montenegro 10 years back with ‘Euro Neuro’ with a message mainly for their national audience. Anyway, as well as the wtf factor, I'd say the overall first impression is pretty negative with the repetitiveness, jarring structure and wacky performance- it isn't hard to see why this is perceived by many as a joke-and not a particularly funny one.

There is just that element however that does want to make you keep watching and give it a second chance. It's devisive, memorable and unique, and with a general low quantity of conventionally ‘good’ entries, that might be enough. Being one person's favourite for whatever reason is better than being 50 people's 8th favourite with the televote after all.

If the message has any impact at all it will be on the jury side with ‘music professionals’ from the region or those who've done some homework the target audience. There will still be plenty ranking this towards the bottom with it being so esoteric but following the criteria, this doesn't do too badly.

All of this however isn't a dark horse tip, making the final is probably the extent of their hopes but is something I expect to happen, particularly with Serbia's base vote in an unspectacular semi.

Personal Rating: 2/10

Competitve Rating: 5/10

Early Prediction: Semi 2 6th- 10th, 15th-19th if in final.
